A tactical duel
I just finished another 1v1 match on Winter’s Duel, and it was by far the closest game I have yet played. Both of us teched up at roughly the same pace, and I was only able to gain a very slight lead at tech 2. As is seemingly inevitable, we both rushed to siege bots after it was clear that tech 2 units would not be enough to win.
We were quite evenly matched in the siege bot department, and there was a bit of back and forth with siege bots, including behind the lines air transport attacks by both players. At one point, I had a number of siege bots right on top of my opponent’s commander, and he was literally down to less than 300 hitpoints when my last attacker was destroyed.
After that, the tide began to turn, with my opponent beginning to substantially outscore me. I attempted several last ditch assassination efforts, including another air transport attack that again had my opponent at the brink of death. Eventually, I took out the opposing ACU with 2 tactical missiles: one to take down the defending shield, and one to kill the commander. I won’t say I was all that lucky, since my opponent was on the utter brink of death at least twice prior to the end, but if I had failed with that tactical missile, I probably would have lost the match.
