A whole new meaning to Theta Passage
Allow me to paint a mental picture, if you will.
I am controlling my Aeon Illuminate forces against Aeon foes on Theta Passage. The battle in the middle of the map has quickly reached a stalemate, with my opponent and I both blanketing the area with point defenses and digging in for the long haul. Hoping to gain some strategic advantage, I remember the passage in the very southeastern portion of the map, and send out a small expeditionary force consisting of fifteen Aurorae.
My radar reveals three solitary blips on the other side of the passage. Surely my men can take them. I give the order to advance. But my tanks, blinded by path-finding stupidity, head through the passage in single fire, coming into range of the three enemy Aurorae simultaneously. I overwhelm him numerically, yet my forces aren’t engaging efficiently. They don’t know how to fight in narrow passageways. The results are, unfortunately, predictable: my Aurorae are getting mowed down. But I have many more than he, and with each one that goes down, a little more damage is inflicted on my enemies. Finally, one enemy Aurora falls. The second falls more quickly. Just as the third Aurora is about to fall my opponent screams out “THIS. IS. SPARTA!!!!”
My six remaining Aurorae push through the passage and go on to nip at the vulnerable underbelly of the beast. They take out a few metal extractors and power generators before they are put down. But the damage is done. I pull ahead in the economy struggle as he hastily works to reinforce his second front, and my siege assault bots hit the ground before his. He was overrun soon after.
This match, which happened two weeks ago, made me realize two things. One, I didn’t really find the match noteworthy until tonight, after seeing 300. It puts a new twist on that battle and my opponent’s fervent shout. I shall never look at the passage on Theta Passage again. And two, recorded match replays definitely should include chat.

Hahaha, nice. :) I love it when an opponent makes the game more enjoyable.

I try to be fun with little conversations also, even if I am losing. One of my favorites is sending my commander into the final battle saying “For those who are about to die, we salute you”.

[...] I think I was expecting a bit more from something of this scale. Over at SupCom talk there was an article about a battle on Theta Passage, which I found pretty amusing, especially after seeing 300. A quote [...]

The ctrl button is a great feature in this game :).

Even the Ctrl button wasn’t going to get those Aurorae moving nicely through that narrow passageway.
