Supreme Commander v3223 patch released
A new patch for Supreme Commander has been released. Restart GPGNet and it will be applied automatically. It’s a small patch that just fixes a few bugs. It is not the big patch on the way that will include the official map editor. Here are the release notes:
- Corrected known desync most frequently manifested by the ‘transport full’ condition, but which could cause desyncs in other areas.
- ‘Cursor/Mouse Lag’ issues manifested by delays in building previews when creating a build queue.
- Minor fix to UEF campaign as a consequence of other fixes
Update: The Replay Vault has been emptied out, and all of the “old” replays, including the huge one I wrote about earlier today, are incompatible. That’s really annoying.
Update 2: DeadLegion has figured out a way to get v3220 replays working in v3223. Basically, just open the old replays in a text editor and change Supreme Commander v1.00.3220 to Supreme Commander v1.00.3223 in the first line of the file. It should work. It’s too bad that the replay vault has been emptied out though. I did speak with Agent911 and he said that the old archives were archived, not deleted; but if they’re not retrievable by non-GPG employees, it doesn’t particularly make a difference.

…and I was excited to watch the replay too. Ahh well, as long as we move fowards.

Just use DeadLegion’s fix, it should work.

It’s still giving me the “Ack” “Unable to open…”. Oh well, another round will happen eventually.

Yeah, it’s going on as we speak. I crashed out. Hard reboot :-( I did manage to land some siege bots on Unconq’s island and cause a little bit of a ruckus first, though.

I tried to change it in wordpad, saved it, but once i opened the replay, it wouldnt play. It was like, idle or something. Nothing was happening.

I got a 3220 replay to work, but it wasn’t one of those giant FFAs. I got about 4000 desync messages, so I guess it didn’t work all that well. It was watchable, but I had to leave the desync box open and watch through it. :(
March 28th, 2007 at 10:17 am
Yeah, I’ve encountered that damn desync box before. Why is it that it is impossible to keep it closed? Why can’t you at least move it off to the side? I guess we’ll never know.
March 28th, 2007 at 12:33 pm
honda it’s probably because wordpad wont save null characters.
And there are exceptions to where old replays wont work. Like if a particular structure used a forked thread it will make the replay different than the game. (IE aeon land factory, cybran t2pd, and broadswords, and transports). Just keep in mind that the replay might not exactly be showing whats going on.
There should be some good 3223 replays. And there is already one of the FFA series in that version :).

^^^ used for testing AI in skirmish

Ooooh, this trainer stuff sounds really interesting, and it’s a side of SupCom most people (myself included) have never heard of. We really need more in-depth technical information on modding and such. Would you like to write an article?

That’s all well and good but what are they doing about those of use who are having problems installing patches. I am more annoyed now at this problem than any other computer mishap I have ever had. I have tried all the suggestions have found to fix the problem and none have worked. I have uninstalled/re installed the game at least 10 times now. Erased all traces of it from the registry, attempted installed different patch versions, attempted to install from the bin directory and attempted to patch from gpg net, among other things. This is a serious problem that just isn’t getting enough attention, I paid good money for this game, more than I have ever spent on a game, and I was extremely excited to get it. Ever since I have had it though I have experienced nothing but problems and frustration.
More attention needs to be drawn to this, and the lack of support for it. Please do an article on this. Sorry to bring my ramblings here but this is a fantastic site for SupCom and the only one I know of that may actually care. Thankyou for reading.

Would you want to do an article on it? Neither I nor any of my friends have had any problems with the patches, and this is sort of the first I’m hearing of it. What’s causing you these problems when they really aren’t affecting other people? Are you running Windows Vista or something?
April 1st, 2007 at 6:11 am
Oh sorry, reading that now it does assume everyone knows about this problem. I am not running Vista, I have a system happily above min specs, running XP, but from what I have found it does not matter, XP or Vista. The problem, apparently stems from the demo not uninstalling correctly.
Here are a few sites I have found with people having the same problem, some are cached from google so as to easily point out where the information pertaining to this is located.

Any much of the same all over the net. I would have thought that they would be right on this, but apparently not.

Would you do an md5 on the patch file and tell me the result? I just want to make sure that your patch file is totally uncorrupted. Some scanners have been known to mess around in the inside of downloadable executables and mess them up. Also, what kind of Internet connection are you on? Normal residential DSL/cable, or something more sinister?
April 1st, 2007 at 10:27 pm
I have no idea what a md5 is, lol, sorry. But I have attempted to use many patches, gamespot, fileplanet, one from a fan site and to update through GPGnet, but all did not work. I am running with ADSL2, I don’t know what the max speed is, but it’s pretty damn fast.
Any way, after the last message I posted I tryed to uninstall/reinstall again, and this time the patch didn’t work, again. I tryed it to install the patch again for some strange reason, and it had a little trouble getting through it, but I am patched now. I can’t see what I did differently the second time though.

An md5 is a type of hash. It’s where your computer looks at all the bits in a file and adds them together with a certain algorithm, and spits out a small chunk of text.
For more information, try Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MD5).
http://www.mgillespie.plus.com/MD5Check.zip for an MD5 utility.

The next time you don’t know what something is, rather than saying so and waiting two days for a response, you could just do a Google search and find out for yourself immediately. I just did a Google search on md5 and the first result is the Wikipedia article, which tells you everything you’d need to know about it.

He might have. We’ll probably never know.
Dun dun dun!

I’m having trouble getting Supreme Commander to lauch.
The screen goes black and then I get
the UNABLE TO OPEN: VERIFY MINUMUM REQUIREMENTS
but, I have more than enough room on my PC.

I just purchased SupCom, Forged Alliance and I cannot get past the “in transit” stage. This happens whether trying to play the tutorial or any other mode of the game. It shows “in transit”, then the screen eventually goes black and then backs out to my desktop. When I try to open it back up says it is currently running. All patches are loaded via GPGNet.
January 8th, 2008 at 9:47 am
SWP, can you post your system specifications? It sounds like a system memory issue, or a video card issue, rather than a hard drive issue.
Jeff, same thing. If we know what your systems are, it makes it easier to diagnose a problem. Actually, it makes it possible to at least try. Right now we have nothing to go on other than the game isn’t working correctly.
June 23rd, 2008 at 2:55 pm
I CANT INSTALL UPDATES BECASE IT SAYS I DONT HAVE enough room
July 31st, 2008 at 1:43 pm
I have the same ‘in transit’ proble.
HP
dual core intel T8100
3 gig of memory
Nvidia 8400M with 256
Supreme Commander runs fine. FA will not get past in transit
