Exclusive first look at v3229 patch notes
I know it’s only a few days ago that we took a look at the v3223 patch, but the next patch, v3229, is already on the way, scheduled for release in mid-April. I spoke with a GPG employee on GPGNet and he gave me an exclusive look at the changes to the game in the upcoming patch.
- Added the long-awaited official map editor.
- Fixed a bug with the Cybran tech 2 tactical missile launcher where the firing delay between multiple missiles was set too low. The delay has been increased to five seconds.
- Fixed the mass extractor/shield generator duplication bug. Now, when a building is paused, any ongoing upgrades are canceled.
- The UEF’s tech 1 light assault bot mech marines couldn’t shoot out of transports because their range was set to less than the altitude at which the transports fly. Fixed by reducing the cruising altitude of UEF transports.
- The Aeon experimental airship CZAR has been improved in an effort to play-balance it. They now have a 10,000 hit point shield and can carry one Galactic Colossus into battle. The mass cost has been increased by 15%.
- Fixed a bug in the Aeon Aurora tech 1 light tank where its maximum projectile range (650m) exceeded its maximum targeting range (508m). The maximum targeting range has been increased to compensate.
- Testing revealed that the UEF Mavor experimental strategic artillery was too powerful and was being built too quickly in competitive games. Its mass cost has been increased to 500,000.
- The UEF tech 2 amphibious tank Riptide was found to be too powerful during playtesting. It now has a chance to sink.
- Fixed a bug with strategic missile defense buildings not being able to shoot down the UEF commander’s tactical nuclear missile.
- Each faction receives an entirely new unit! UEF gets a new tech 1 fast attack boat with anti-air capabilities called the Plinker. The Cybrans get a new tech 2 wall unit called The Divider that is more resistant to damage and being reclaimed than tech 1 walls. And the Aeon receive a new tech 3 point defense building armed with a mark 2 Oblivion cannon called the Demolisher. It has a 50% range and damage increase over the tech 2 point defense Oblivion cannon. To compensate for its increased range, the speed of all Oblivion cannon projectiles has been increased by 50%.
- Because we anticipate that these changes will significantly affect the overall play balance and thus invalidate notions of who is the “best” based on the old gameplay mechanics, the ladder rankings will be reset upon the release of v3229.

Damn. I was fooled nicely there. The last one had me scared shitless. I’ve been playing all day today. Gone from position 13,000 in the rankings to almost 1000. Thought all that was going to be erased.

Oh damn, you got me. I really got excited about the tech 3 point defense of the Aeon Illuminate. Well, until I read the first response and double-checked the date, that is. ^^ Nice one, very funny in retrospect. Especially the bug-fixes are believable (except the one to make the Aeon tech 1 tank even stronger^^).

I was going to cry about not nerfing the aeon but then remembered the date. Good job, you had me for a minute :)

Some of those changes seem legitament, but the increased speed for the Aeon towers etc seemed just a tad “out there”. Nice joke if so…

i was about to say….
i could believe the changes of the aeon, IF there were similar boosts to all the other races. but the flying saucer carrying a colossus….scary indeed :)

The Colossus should also be able to fire from the CZAR while being transported. In fact, while we’re at it, lets just give Aeon the Megazord from Power Rangers.

That was great!! You had me all up in arms :-)

Even if it’s a joke, I think that looks like a fairly decent list.
