And before anyone takes me too literally, the big and important difference I am referring to is the scale, not merely the strategic zoom itself. Supreme Commander is about one order of magnitude larger and more strategic than Command and Conquer 3. The strategic zoom is just one symptom of that. It makes all of the difference in the world.

it does indeed :) every other RTS i now play i think “right, quick zoom out to check whats going on…..just zoom…errrr…*humpf* :|”
Will be intriguing to see if future RTS games can see what a difference the strategic zoom makes and whether they incorporate it or not.

Ha ha ha, I often do the same thing in C&C3! Supreme Commander’s zoom capability should be a standard on all RTS from now on.

I played Civ IV yesterday. It has zoom as well, but it didnt zoom back in where I pointed my cursor. Arrrgh. It just goes back to where I started to zoom out. I was eXtremely annoying :o(

That’s exactly what I did for the first hour I was playing Tiberium Wars. Then I quit playing and went back to SupCom.
