Which types of games do you like playing?
One thing I’m realizing as I read the blogs here is that we have a wide variety of different players. Grokmoo and I mainly come from the competitive multiplayer standpoint, but judging from the comments, it seems that a lot of our readers may have a different focus, and we’d like to put up some material for you as well. So please take a few seconds to answer this poll so that we can better tailor our content for our audience.

I’m sure it’s not the best course of action but I’ve never completed the single-player campaigns and play mostly ranked games. Learning to play in ranked may not be the way to get the best rank, but it sure is more fun ;)

question: what’s “Comp stomp multiplayer”?

Lan party/GPG with AI players mixed in maybe?

comp stomp multiplayer, I imagine it’s when a team of humans fight against a team of AI

oh ok, thanks. it seems so useless that I didn’t even think about that. I’m playing Non-competitive multiplayer. I haven’t played any ranked game yet, I guess I’m waiting for the “Eureka” moment.

I only played ranked initially. I switched to custom games recently because I don’t have the time or inclination to really concentrate on the game and I don’t want to lose a ton of places in the meantime.
The majority of custom games are a bit rubbish. People choose bad maps that are designed for very slow, long matches. You can find good ones here and there but 1vs1’s are a rarity and I think that’s where most of the excitement is. 2vs2’s would be better if the majority of strangers made any attempt to cooperate with you. Most of the noobs sit in a corner and build defences.
Playing the computer and playing the campaigns isn’t any fun at all.

I like a mix. But, I’m not much of a single player vs. AI kind of a guy. My friend and I like to play against the AI, but it is too easy. We still play though.

I see custom games and ranked duels as two very different things and I like both. 2v2 can be more laid back; hopefully get some good banter and team work, though I’ve not seen much so far. Good map choice is essential. 1v1 is more likely to give a decent quick game but has less scope for fun in my opinion. Playing the computer gets old very quickly. The campaigns are rubbish compared to other RTS games.

No point playing the computer, it’s too slow and too easy to beat. I’m leaning towards custom games for the time being as I am waiting for the patch to come out, it sounds like it’s going to change alot.

Admittedly I have only played 2 ranked games (but I did enjoy them) so I would say I do everything except mulitplayer comp stomp, I have completed all the campaigns and enjoyed them, I play custom games but quite competitively, I practice different strategies in a skirmish against supreme AI. Most of the games I have played online have been 2 v 2’s though.
