2v2 ladder reset imminent?
Son of Shagrat has announced that GPG is seriously considering resetting the 2v2 ladder:
We have been giving 2v2 a lot of love since the release of the latest patch. This love will be out with the next patch in the coming week or so. We’ve tightened down all aspects of 2v2, including game launch and rating resolution This work will also extend to 3v3, which we hope to reactivate at the same time.
We plan to reset the 2v2 ladder completely. Your thoughts?
Quick, go to the forums and register your complaints. It’s not too late to stop this. There just isn’t any compelling reason to reset 2v2 rankings. Heck, 1v1 has actually changed more since it was started (2v2 is more recent), so if anything deserves to be reset, it’s the 1v1 ladder. Not that I would ever condone that course of action.
And if, for some reason, GPG does end up resetting the 2v2 ladder, they need to reward the top-scoring players at the very least. You know, give them medals or something for being highly scored before the wipe. Though I can’t imagine people enthusiastically playing the 2v2 ladder post-wipe, putting all that hard work and effort into an ephemeral reward they know is liable to vanish the next time the ladder gets just a little love.

Even though I have worked long and hard to get ranked high in the 2v2 ladder I agree it needs a reset. There have been some really odd scoring in the 2v2 ladder lately me and Ktachuck lost 28 points twice(we lost twice) for losing to WINTER and Shloober. We gained 3 points for beating jerriescids and stratboy(top 30 team). Something about this is messed up and I do not like it I would rather everyone starts off on a even keel again as long as it works right. As Cyde said though I would not mind some kind of award for those who placed high in 2v2 ladder.

Resets are fine, maybe that the current position should be stored for that “Look what I achieved before the reset”-showing-off-kind-of-people. Besides, 2vs2 has been (still is?) more two times 1vs1 than anything else due to poor starting positions.

I think as long as they give PLENTY of warning to an exact reset date, there shouldn’t be that many complaints. They need to give probably at least a couple of months’ warning though, just so people won’t try extra hard to get their rank up right before the reset. I guess this would have the negative effect of people not playing in the months leading up to the reset. But if they’re convinced the game has changed enough to warrant a reset, it probably needs to be done sometime. I’m sure the top players could and would quickly re-establish themselves anyway.

i’m against it personally. It really will not serve the purpose. Keeping current ladder will allow current top players to remain on top. It would be frustrating if i had to fight my way to the top (if i was anywhere near it of course)

I played four 2v2 ranked games, all with the same partner, and our names never showed up in the rankings anywhere.

T2A`: Are you sure? You know you have to search the 2v2 rankings ladder on both of your names, separated by a space, in lexigraphical order, right?

Agreed. It’s kind of weird that you have to search on both names to get the listing to show up. I really wish it would work where you could just put in your own name and it’d show you every listing you have in the 2v2 ranking ladder with all of your various partners.

well maby not a reset maby a re-calcuation…. but i cant realy say that not knowing what is in the patch…. and the search REALY needs to be fixed…. cuz i dont know what team mate ive plaid more with!!
