GPGnet patch version 1.5.110 released

The latest version of GPGnet, 1.5 was just released (as it was previously announced it would be). The patch notes, as announced by Son of Shagrat on the official forum, are as follows:

GPGnet Award System
A new award and avatar system has been put in place. In your Profile, you will note many new recognitions that can be earned and custom configured for your user display in chat. The upper right corner of your profile display allows you to configure levelled awards; the upper left allows you to display earned avatars. Awards are re-compiled on a nightly basis. More information will be forthcoming.

2v2 Ranked, 3v3 Ranked
A significant amount of work has been completed to solidify 2v2 ranked and re-activate 3v3 ranked. 3v3 is re-activated on a trial basis. Please note that the 2v2 ranked ladder will be reset in the near future, but the top 20 teams and the #1 team will receive award recognition via avatars for their efforts.

Tournament Support
Numerous fixes and additions have been made for Tournament support, including the ability to use custom maps.

Moderators
GPGnet will now support non-admin moderators. Watch Volunteer Efforts for information on becoming a chat room moderator.

To get the patch, just (re)start GPGnet and it will be downloaded automatically. The 3v3 ladder seems to be the real substantive change; awards are mostly fluff.

So it seems the 2v2 ladder will be wiped, after all. Too bad, since me and Cyde have put in a number of games on it.

  2. MrINeedAPatch Says:

but what about our poor folk who dont use gpgnet?
where can we dl the patches?

  3. Cyde Weys Says:

The chat changes seem rather … unnecessary. It’s icon and symbol overload. Was the star ranking system too simple? I do like how the map names have been fixed in the Join Custom Game list though, and the map thumbnails in there have been fixed too.

just use gpgnet that’s how. why wouldnt you use it? just log in and get off if you dont want the patch. What reason could you have for not being able to do that (other than a pirated copy of the game? or maybe you are using a friends copy because the disk isnt required past the first patch?) come on… get with it and use gpgnet. its the best way to play. the. best. way.

moving on…. sigh my replays will now be gone… which wouldnt be that big a deal to me except that one of them is of a ranked game i won that i never recieved credit for. and now gpg will never ever give me the points i deserve from it. sigh

Just had a fun 3v3 ranked with funkoff and riff vs sir_loui _PINK and grey steel…. It was epic.

  6. T2A` Says:

Holy shit. It’s been awhile since I was on GPGnet chat… WTF were they thinking? All those icons are a mindfuck. :(

  7. Sear Says:

Yeah I think the icons were pointless but hey, that’s what they want.. oo I had a thought after reading your SCU differences, and I thought that it might be good idea to have an article on deciding which faction is most suited to you, what to look at with your style of play etc. This is just a thought and not a request so don’t think I’m telling you to write one :P but if you do I would be most greatful because I have no idea what faction to be even after playing since the game was released :P anyway if you want to delete this post I don’t mind :P (Because it is in the ‘patch’ section)

  8. PolyBomber Says:

Cyde you said the map thumbnails in join custom game were fixed? They aren’t for me… Did you do anything special when you installed the patch? Anyone else have fixed thumbnails?

  9. Ryuken Says:

Icons are a nice addition imo, too bad it makes everything a bit slower.

  10. Gryphyn Says:

Joined a custom game yesterday with a friend, and it turned out I didn’t have the map. GPGnet popped up a window with the information about the map from the database, with a little button for me to download the map if I wished to. Hit download, then joined the game.

    How nice!
