“ZOMG the Forged Alliance trailer is out” open thread
In case you were living under a rock that was encased in carbonite and buried in a Baghdad marketplace this past week, let me point out that the Supreme Commander stand-alone expansion Forged Alliance trailer was released this week. We still haven’t figured out what all of the units do. For instance, what are these chubby units walking alongside the monkeylords and monkeykings in this screenshot? Grokmoo swore he saw them shooting lasers briefly in the trailer, so I can only hope and pray that they are “The Can”s. The certainly look the part.
Also, I was browsing the official GPG forum and I’m noticing that there are a lot more sections than there used to be, some of them of very questionable usefulness. Hence this poll question:
Oh, and don’t forget that this is an open thread like all the rest, so please, feel free.

Oh, and there’s a major The Can speculation thread in the official forum. Just thought you might want to read that.

“And then mighty Monkeylord slipped his pulsating member into the quivering gash of the Fatboy…”
Lose the fanfic, IMO.

I prefer to think the blocky cybrans are big walking bombs, cause i dont remember seeing them shoot.
Those seraphim uber-bombers are cool, i like how they look more like spaceships than planes. carpet nukes FTW!

The fan fiction community for Total Annihilation was rather excellent so I wouldn’t call that section redundant by any means.
That reminds me, what happened to my Sup Com erotica? I can’t remember which newspost I wrote that in. Blasted search on this client is rubbish.
I think the reason they have so many sections on GPG forums is because of the massive amount of moany bastards who spam threads everywhere crying that the game is absolutely ruined and they’ll never play it again for the rest of their days because of unit/balance issue X, Y, Z.

Ah, there we are. A fine piece of writing if I do say so myself.

woops i thought it was most useful :$
Fan fiction and role playing aswell as newcomers and clan discussions are the most useless imo :p.

Molloy:
That was probably the greatest thing I have ever read on any SupCom site.

Quality-wise, it has taken these last six months to get SupCom and GPGNet to a place where they could acceptably be considered release-to-market quality, although GPGNet and its Vault are still flakey at times. Alas the devs have already moved on to a new game so they can get paying beta testers to test another bunch of code for them. heh.

I’d say supcom suggestions, the majority are left unread, I have posted a few (One was to do with changing the way the interceptors guard a flying thing (A transport for instance), I said they should only attack other ints / AIFs’s, and gunships if they can attack what the ints are guarding, but not follow them, also they should fly slightly ahead of what they are guarding, not behind them

UT3 is coming out in November now. Or so Epic says. So much for people buying SC:FA. UT3 will be pimped like a mother while no one will have heard of SC:FA by the time it ships. ^___^

Since this is an open thread I am going on vacation for 2 weeks starting tomorow…. ); I already lost #1 spot on 2v2 ladder.

T2A`: Yeah, but those are two completely different genres of game. I personally enjoy both FPSs and RTSs, but I do so separately, so even a really great FPS coming out won’t distract my attention from RTSs for too long.
Lord Kaiser: You might have an unrealistic perception of how the Suggestions forum is supposed to function. Game makers very rarely, if ever, incorporate anything into the game that was suggested to them in a random forum post. Some of the ideas are undoubtedly good, but remember, the majority of Supreme Commander’s programmers have already moved on to other things, leaving just a skeleton maintenance coding team behind, and they need to prioritize what they end up working on, which basically means that suggestions don’t get implemented.

don’t forget to give your units to your team mate before you go away!!!

Hm fair enough, or well, would have been good if they implemented it though :P
