New 1v1 Ranked Map Lineup Coming

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

Big news for 1v1 ranked players!  TheCoreCommander has announced on the official forums that the 1v1 ranked map lineup will be changing, four maps will be swapped out for new ones. The great news is that both Liberium Battles and Thawing Glacier will be removed, to be replaced by Theta Passage and Canis River.  Thank goodness!  […]

Dark Heart Map Review

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

Well, now that I’ve gotten the two lame maps out of the way its time to move on to the rest of the 1v1 ranked lineup which is, for the most part, awesome.  In addition to the classics like Finn’s Revenge and Open Palms, there are also some new maps.  Two of those are truly […]

Tis the Season to be Cybran?

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

Hey everyone, hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving break.  I certainly did, lots of quality time with my new daughter, and I had time to play almost a dozen ranked games of FA which was great, including several on Dark Heart which I’m fired to review now.  In Supcom news, Forged Alliance is now released in Europe […]

Thawing Glacier in Review

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

Next up in the lineup is the other giant, Thawing Glaciers.  This one has a lot of improvements over Liberiam Battles but ultimately fails for the same reasons. As a brief overview, its a 6 player map in a 3v3 configuration.  Each side has 3 starting points on a plateau, with a large valley in […]

A review of the new map Liberiam Battles

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

I’d like to start a series of articles on the current ranked maps lineup because it is a real mix. There are some really good and some really bad… and today I’m going to start off with what I believe is the worst: Liberiam Battles. Now, I’d like to make very clear that this article […]

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

Hey there peeps! I have been waiting for this game looong time and now i finally got my hands on it. The thing that made me most curious after playing the beta was how the new maps would look. I have played like 12 games of FA now and the new maps i like the […]

Oh noes!!! Nerf teh Riptidez!!

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Well, lo and behold a new patch (3596) has been released and it appears the Devs agreed with those who say the Riptides are overpowered.  Their cost has been increased 20%.  This is a pretty serious blow to the unit, it now compares much less favorably to the Pillar and Mongoose and is no longer very […]

They call it Snoey Triangle…

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

I just played a fantastic game on a new map called “Snoey Triangle” (as best I can tell that is the actual spelling) and thought I would share it as it really demonstrates the intense new gameplay of Forged Alliance. Unfortunately I can’t figure out how to post the actual replay file at the moment, […]

Fear the Riptide!

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

Now I would have loved for my first post to be a lengthy and lofty thesis on what the RTS genre is, how it is defined, how SupCom is the ultimate manifestation of that genre to date, how the RTS genre fits into computer gaming in general, etc., etc.  I would also love to post about how […]

Engineer is Here

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

Well, to all three of you who still visit this site, there is finally a new writer!  Here I go by my SupCom handle, Engineer.  In so-called “real life” my name is Ryan, and I actually am an Electrical Engineer, which is every bit as awesome as it sounds (i.e. yeah… not so much). My […]
