Skirmish is where it’s at
I just played my first skirmish game (after beating the first eight campaign missions), and I must say, skirmish is where it’s at. Skirmish is the hat to campaign’s head. If you’re getting bored of knocking down set-piece after set-piece in campaign mode like I am (including dozens of minutes of building up forces between each objective), then give skirmish a whirl. It’s more dynamic, more fair, and the action maintains a constant frenetic pace as opposed to the punctuated equilibria of campaign mode. And I’m not the only one who thinks this way.
Now obviously, multiplayer is the ultimate game mode, but I haven’t quite reached the point where I feel comfortable with all the units. Once I get some more skirmish experience under my belt, though, it’s off to multiplayer. Watch out! I’m going to be the caltrops under your heel (that is to say, ultimately squished, but I’ll still inflict some pain before I give up the ghost).

gotta say glad to see u back Cyde!
well mulitplayer is where it is at, and dont belive what u read on the forums, after about 50 games so far, im still yet to find one person that spams gunships and WINS!!!!
guess its a overseas problem (dont have it here in Australia)
next i should add, that because steam is locking everyone to different ‘regions’ and only letting me play with my local ‘friends’ i should add, that the games been out what 2 weeks? and in my case just 9 days, and different regions have different playing styles!
US, will fight soon and fight hard (but prefer bigger maps) and the games will drag on a bit reaching about the 40-50min mark, cuz they choose bigger maps
in EU the maps are chosen to be smaller, and start off a lot faster! with a lot of commanders running around doing some damage, but once someone has the game ‘in the bag’ they quit, taking away the satisfaction of making them go Boom!!
just played a game on SC2_MP_002 http://supcomdb.com/sc2/maplist (cant remember the maps name, really should know this stuff by now) and after building a few Magnetron’s i had virtual control over the land forces because its range was most of the map, so the 2 players on the other team (the first one fell into a Magnetron that was in my base already) quit the game, removing the satisfaction of me winning, dont think im gonna play in the UK anymore…..
as for the AU region our games seem to be shorter, with more experimentals everyone seems to tech fast, then you start seeing unit cannons, ac-1000’s, and megaliths everywhere!!!
oh and no normally i dont see a lot of Illuminate exp they either dont play or die to quickly :)
cant wait for the region patch to come in and see the chaos begin!
