GPGnet patch version 1.5.110 released

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

The latest version of GPGnet, 1.5 was just released (as it was previously announced it would be). The patch notes, as announced by Son of Shagrat on the official forum, are as follows:
GPGnet Award System
A new award and avatar system has been put in place. In your Profile, you will note many new recognitions [...]

Patch v3255 is out

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

GPG has just released a new version of SupCom, v3255. This hotfix apparently fixes a possible desync exploit, although I am unsure of any details. There are no official release notes that I can find, just a one line message on GPGnet. Unfortunately, this means that yet again old replays are incompatible [...]

GPGnet patch coming next week

Saturday, June 16th, 2007

A new GPGnet patch is coming next week. I’ve spoken with Son of Shagrat, the Producer of GPGnet, and he has confirmed the following new features:

An awards system, which will reward players for performing certain feats in ranked play (like, say, 5 wins in a row?). Awards will also be given to winners [...]

2v2 ladder reset imminent?

Friday, June 15th, 2007

Son of Shagrat has announced that GPG is seriously considering resetting the 2v2 ladder:
We have been giving 2v2 a lot of love since the release of the latest patch. This love will be out with the next patch in the coming week or so. We’ve tightened down all aspects of 2v2, including game launch and [...]

Think you’ve played too many ranked games?

Thursday, June 14th, 2007

If you didn’t think that there would be a player with over 1,000 1v1 ranked games under his belt by now, you were wrong. Gabriel-E78 currently stands at 657 wins, 470 losses, and 39 draws, for a total of 1,166 ranked games played. That makes for an average of thirteen ranked games a [...]

Battleships shoot down nukes now

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

Multiple players on the official forum have confirmed that battleships now shoot down strategic nuclear missiles. This change was introduced, apparently inadvertently, in the v3254 hotfix patch. As you may already know, battleships have tactical missile defense that they use to shoot down incoming tactical missiles. Somehow, something changed in their targeting, [...]

Supreme Commander Source closes down for good

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

Ouch, it looks like Supreme Commander Source is the first major fansite to close down. Before it shut for good, it was a good source to find third party maps and mods. Now it just has a simple departure message in place of where the site used to be:
We’re Closed!
Unfortunately Supreme Commander did [...]

Official map editor released

Monday, June 11th, 2007

The official map editor has been released, at least in some form (hat-tip to Wuped). To find it, go into “The Vault” on GPGnet (located in the Tools menu), browse to the Download tab, select the Tools list item under “Search For”, and then hit the “Run Search” button in the upper right. [...]

Steam hardware survey

Saturday, June 9th, 2007

There aren’t many ways to tell what sort of hardware PC gamers are running, so Valve’s most recent Steam Survey is probably as close an approximation as you’re going to find. Results are still coming in but of the 300,000 or so players queried so far only 1.21 percent have both DirectX 10 and a [...]

Major Command & Conquer 3 patch released

Friday, June 8th, 2007

Just to let you all know, the Command & Conquer 3 big patch was released yesterday (hat tip to Baddox for pointing this out). You may wonder why you’re hearing about it here, and why you’re hearing about it so late. It’s relevant to SupComTalk because CNC3 is currently Supreme Commander’s largest competitor [...]
