Since I don't have Internet access at home I'm glad they have not gone with Stardock (like they did for their last game) otherwise I would not be able to install the patches since Stardocks patches can only be installed via Impulse and Impulse only works if there is a net connection. If previous form is any indication I will need the patches!

Looking forward to it. What ever happened to that other SupCom1 expansion pack? The experimentals or something.

suntiger is right. Gaming laptops really aren't bad at all when you know where to look. Especially when you take into account that they come with a "monitor", "speakers", and a "keyboard. If you factor those into the price, then gaming laptops really aren't that much more than a gaming desktop. And the added mobility is more than worth the extra cost in my opinion. That being said, to address the original post, if you're going to be playing games like Supreme Commander, then you're going to want a GeForce graphics card. The quadro will perform worse in games designed for DirectX. Quadro cards are designed for CAD. Perhaps you can upgrade to a 8600m GT? These are very well priced these days and should be available.

Disregard the last post, on closer reading it seems you're aware of the feature already and were simply adressing the pointless patrol-problem :P

Sir_Brizz: Actually, it's already possible to make an engineer / commander / support commander reclaim all scrap material within a designated area. Just make it patrol the area, and it will automatically reclaim all scrap as well as repair all damaged units within the patrol area. :)

I still play it. I don't have a wife or kids, and my girlfriend see each other infrequently. I have some time to kill between the grind of daily life and i like to keep my mind active. Supreme commander being one of the great strategy games of modern times, I love to play it with friends. More than that though, I love to watch the replays of the great online players. Seeing the clever, evolving strategies and cunning tactics involved in great games is very rewarding.

On copy protection, I'm rather a fan of Stardock's gamers bill of rights, and find that their approach to Sins of a Solar Empire and Galactic Civilisations 2. Sure, people can pirate games, but they'll be missing out on online multiplayer play AND critical bugfixes if they do this. By securing the game patching system, they've given a great incentive to buy their game. If you've tried it, and you like it, and you want it to run properly, you buy it! How much more simple can it get?

This thread looks a bit dated, but anyway:

"Heh, now you should try killing everything except there ACU with only egineers by reclaiming them. Now that would be a challenge!(I hope it would anyways)"

I actually *had* to go try that. Easy. Too bad I couldn't also reclaim his ACU lol. As an interesting sidenote, killing everything by reclaiming it made for a very powerful economy :D
