Hi, new to the forums, but have read a lot of articles here...

I am questioning, if there is a mod that will allow a longer rush time limit.. just for fun. me and some friends like to set our game to speed x10 and time limit to the max and see who can build as much as possible with the time allowed then "rush" the opponent... i know it sounds crazy, but its just for kicks. but is there a mod or an file i can edit to allow a longer Rush Time Limit?

thanks,

It seems to me that you can be harassed by T1 units before the T2 rush gets into full swing. On a tight map like Winter Duel, however, where the commander can hold off T1 enemies for a good long while, this might be a problem.

I am finding that in 2v2 ranked on a majority of maps and spawn locations t2 rushing is the only way to go and slaughters players that go for t1 spam instead. The main situations this works on is: 1v1 WD, Theta, and Finns 2v2 OP no matter what, isis if you and your partner spawn on opposite sides and arctic no matter what. I do this almost every game when I get one of those maps and have no lost except to someone else who did this... Infact I do not think I have lost on any of them at all recently(WD once about 2 weeks ago). Once people start catching onto this it is going to become a t2 rush spamfest I know 2 ways to rush to t2 one is 3:30 and sacrifices eco a bit(does not really matter) with only one fact and one is 4 minutes and you keep a decent eco intact.

Of course, this technique of using scouts to 'overpower' the air defences may not work as well now. Seeing as air defences now prioritise against bombers.

I bought supcom not that long ago and I am slowly getting better at it. I have been watching replays and learning but I really want to mod the game and mess around with it. I am in school to become a video game designer by the way. Anyways on another post that no one has replied too(bad naming I guess) I asked how to install mods, I know how to extract the folders but not much after that.(they could have made this way easier!) But I also would like any tips Or anything like that. Thanks!

I only really have one replay in the last few months. I have not had too much time to play SupCom with my job these days. If you search the vault for YourDaddy you should find it. The last game we played we were using the 2x resource mod & got totally blown out.

I think that I am missing some fundimental understanding on the econ. One thing that I know I don't do is build tons of engineers. I hate to have to manage and keep track of all of them.

You see multiplayer maps in games like Counter Strike adapted and changed. CS_Milita is completely different from how it started out.

Isis isn't very popular with alot of pro's because it's so defensive and games tend to drag out a bit. Making the changes I was describing wouldn't be random, it'd be adapting the map to make it less one dimensional strategy wise.

You hear about rebalancing units all the time but what if GPG adapted the more popular maps to address balance issues.

For example they could take Isis and make the gaps in the hills larger. They could put more metal in the middle too so the area was more heavily contested earlier on.

They could make the islands on The Sludge a bit larger, maybe space them out some more.

Fix the start imblances on Theta Passage.

You know what's really crappy about this forum software? It doesn't remember your password. And it gives you some random one you're never going to remember so you have to go look through your email everytime you want to post. No wonder this place is dead.

Anyway. Mines are a fun idea. They were absolutely useless in TA though.

They were cloaked in TA so having a field of them took an enormous amount of energy to maintain. They were slow to put down and did very little damage.

For them to be worthwhile they'd have to be dirt cheap, fast to throw down and high damage. Maybe they could say they were buried. That way you'd see a bit of a scar on the ground that you could force fire. Or else send a ton of cheap scounts into it to clear. You'd have to be able to get the mine vehicle to just throw them down automatically when you put it on patrol.

It's hard to say how you'd make the feature anything more than a gimmick though. Hard to balance or make very useful.

Something I would like to see in SupCom.

Also the mobile shield generator should be given more power, it has to withstand more to be more powerful in breaking a turtle, it´s useless now.

I want a larger variety of tech 3 land units, more underwater/floating buildings (like what Core Contingency added to TA), and minelayers that don't require micromanagement, i.e. you can define a minefield by dragging out a rectangle and tell minelayers to assist the minefield, which means they automatically build, repair, and replace mines within it.

A neat thing I've discovered is that you can turn GPG Replay Vault replay: links into http links. Here's an example:

replay:CydeWeys/5-5-2007-20-5-24.SupremeCommanderReplay

becomes http://gpgnet.gaspowered.com/replays/CydeWeys/5-5-2007-20-5-24.SupremeCommanderReplay

I would like to see some special purpose units in an expansion pack. My only real complaint with SupCom is that the unit diversity is kind of low. I would like to see a few special purpose units for each faction that may be useful in certain strategic situations.

I am not really a big water unit fan but I would like to see some underwater resource production or storage. I would also not mind tech 2 or tech 3 storage, or upgradable storage.

I have to say that while it may be that my experiences on Isis are mostly custom 2v2's or rookie level ranked games I love the map for the simple fact that there isn't anyplace I have an easier time TML sniping opponents. 3 or 4 T2 engi's and a mobile stealth nestled in among the ridges in range of the entire base and building 4-6 TML launchers with 2-4 missiles each'll tend to take out some pretty hard base defenses and if I'm lucky a quick ACU kill if they don't have shields.

Just remember to "activate" the stealth before you get in range of your opponent, lol. I've made that mistake a couple of times.

The other day what I did was do a moderately sized attack with Siege Bots and took out most of the forward defenses, both air and ground, before my attack was torn apart. However, when the ACU came up from behind the shields and additional defenses, I came in with ~10-12 Strategic Bombers and sniped him :) The defenses were so pushed back I think I only lost 1 or 2 of the bombers too.

Granted...I was playing against the AI since I can't get online to play where I am at currently. However, I expect this could work even against humans not expecting it.

What about writing on your thoughts about the two types of seige assault bots. There's the UEF bot with the shields and the Harbinger for the other two races. I personally like the UEF version because if you come on a random patrol and happen to take some damage to a couple bots chances are that their shields will recharge before the next attack. Also I've always wondered why AEON don't have a individual Assault bot but have a copy of the Cybrans.

Aspects missing for me are reasonably snappy unit response time. They're too bloody sluggish! And while TA's pathfinding did tend to crap out once you you had more than 300 units in the game it didn't seem to crap out to nearly the same extent that SC's units do.
